On Saturday, October 8, 2016, at approximately 12:07pm, Columbus Police Officers were dispatched to 5746 Saranac Drive regarding a shooting. Officers arrived and found the victim Shawn Chambliss suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Grant Hospital in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries at approximately 12:41pm. According to witnesses and the evidence collected thus far, the victim apparently knew the suspects and met them in the parking lot located in front of his residence. At some point the victim fled on foot from the suspects, but one of the suspects pursued him, shooting at the victim as he chased him to the rear of 5746 Saranac Drive. Robbery may have been the motive for the shooting. The suspects are described as a dark skinned black male wearing a black ball cap with a flat rim/bill and a black shirt, and a black male wearing a white t-shirt and (possibly) blue jeans.
