On Sunday, May 5, 2013, at approximately 10:00pm, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call of a pedestrian lying along the roadway at Refugee Road and Citizens Place in the vicinity of Nafzger Park. Officers arrived to find 23-year old Olivia Egland. Ms. Egland was transported to Grant Hospital in critical condition. She later died from her injuries.
Investigators believe that Olivia was walking from the area of Chatterton Road to her boyfriend’s apartment on Refugee Road when she was struck by an automobile that fled the scene. She was in an area of the roadway without sidewalks or street lights when struck.

In addition, the family of Olivia Egland is offering a reward of up to $2,000 in the case.
