Central Ohio Crime Stoppers, along with the Fraternal Order of Police Capital City Lodge #9 and United Dairy Farmers, is pleased to recognize Columbus Police Officer Brian Goudy as the recipient of the Bryan Hurst/Tony Luzio Officer of the Month Award for August. Please read details below:
On April 20, 2017, at 12:34am, an “Officer in Trouble” call was aired regarding a suspect, later identified as Rakeen Jarmal Farmer, had struck a cruiser and took off. It was later learned that the officer had been struck and dragged by the suspect. Officer Brian Goudy was in the area and responded. The vehicle was stopped shortly thereafter without incident. Mr. Farmer was alleged to have thrown property from the vehicle. Officer Goudy backtracked with other officers and located a black handgun and bottles of Promethazine. They also found Mr. Sade Suldan Abdiasiis, who appeared to be tampering with the evidence that was thrown from the vehicle. Mr. Abdiasiis was detained at the scene and subsequently arrested for warrants. Officer Goudy had recently seen on the CPD Facebook page, a story regarding a robbery that occurred at the CVS located at 2680 N. High Street on April 18th, regarding the theft of liquid medication. After seeing the photos and reading the description, Officer Goudy thought Mr. Abdiasiis was possibly involved. Officer Goudy then alerted his Sgt. about the possible link. Officer Goudy further stated there was another armed robbery, which involved a black handgun, at the CVS at 4280 Morse Road on April 10th that was similar and may be linked. Officer Goudy’s Sgt. received confirmation that indeed both of the suspects had been linked to the pharmacy robberies.
The award presentation, where the rest of the story will be told, will take place on Wednesday, September 6th, around 9:45am, at the Fire Fighters Union Hall, 2nd floor, located at 379 W. Broad Street.
