Central Ohio Crime Stoppers, along with the Fraternal Order of Police Capital City Lodge #9 and United Dairy Farmers, is pleased to recognize the Whitehall Police Department Narcotics Unit as the recipient of the Bryan Hurst/Tony Luzio Officer of the Month Award for June. Please read details below:
Det. Baker, lead detective, worked for months trying to I.D. Chezirray Owensby. After electronic surveillance, phones, and numerous man hours, the Whitehall Narcotics Unit had probable cause for a search warrant at Owensby’s residence. The Unit recovered a half kilo of cocaine (455 grams), 15 grams of heroin, 2 handguns and $8281 cash. After the execution of another search warrant, the unit located a kilo of cocaine and a kilo of Fentanyl at a storage unit. Per DEA website, this amount of Fentanyl is enough to kill 500,000 people.
The award presentation, which will tell the rest of the story, will take place on Wednesday, June 5th, around 10:00am, at the Fire Fighters Union Hall located at 379 W. Broad Street.
