Central Ohio Crime Stoppers, along with the Fraternal Order of Police Capital City Lodge #9 and United Dairy Farmers, is pleased to recognize Franklin County Deputies Dave Coburn and Bret Ulry as the recipients of the Bryan Hurst/Tony Luzio Officer of the Month Award for October. Please read details below:
On August 9, 2016, Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputies Dave Coburn and Bret Ulry were dispatched to the 3000 block of Noe Bixby Road on report of panhandlers walking through the parking lot and harassing patrons. The deputies confronted the panhandlers and at the request of the manager instructed them to leave the premises.
The deputies decided to monitor the location from a distance, and after a short time observed that the panhandlers had returned and were once again bothering patrons. They quickly detained the suspects to issue citations, and upon further investigation discovered that one of the individuals had active warrants for robbery, kidnapping, and gross sexual imposition. The suspect was immediately placed under arrest.
The award presentation will take place on Wednesday, October 5th, around 9:45am, at the Fire Fighters Union Hall, 2nd floor, located at 379 W. Broad Street.
