This week’s “Crime of the Week” focuses on an Auto Theft which took place in London, Ohio.
On Tuesday, January 31, 2017, approximately 30 minutes prior to closing, an unidentified person entered the Coughlin Automotive dealership in London, Ohio and requested to “test drive” a specific vehicle. The unidentified individual furnished the salesperson with, what appeared to be, a valid Ohio ID. Upon the business closing for the evening, the suspect had not returned with the vehicle. The police were notified, and upon their arrival they were able to confirm that the information on the ID furnished by the suspect was stolen out of North Royalton, Ohio. Further investigation has determined that the ID is a forgery because the picture on the ID is of the suspect who was also involved in several attempts to commit fraud, using the same ID and information, in Beavercreek, Ohio. Because of certain features, the suspect, although presented as female, may actually be male. The suspect is black with long straight hair, which may be a wig, and wears glasses. The vehicle is a 2008 gray Cadillac Escalade (OH VIN # 1GYFK668X8R134343) and had a dealers license tag of 056D3QN displayed at the time of the theft. Pictures of both the suspect and actual stolen car can be viewed below.
