This week’s “Crime of the Week” focuses on a Homicide that took place in Columbus in 2021.
On July 29, 2021, at approximately 1:42am, Columbus Division of Police Patrol Officers were dispatched to the area of 1435 N. Cassady Ave on the report of a shooting. When officers arrived at scene, they discovered the 20 year old victim, KAYLIAN REDD, suffering from a gunshot wound lying in the grass area at Airport Dr. and N. Cassady Ave. Prior to the shooting Kaylian was attending a birthday party at a nearby hotel. He left the party to go look for a friend who had wandered off from the hotel. Kaylian was last seen leaving the Turkey Hill gas station at 1425 N Cassady Ave. Surveillance video captured a dark colored SUV, possibly a Dodge Caliber, follow him as he left the store. Occupants of that vehicle then fired several shots at him. Kaylian Redd was struck by gunfire and collapsed. He was pronounced deceased by CFD Medic 20 at 1:56am at scene.
