Central Ohio Crime Stoppers, along with the Fraternal Order of Police Capital City Lodge #9, is pleased to recognize Columbus Police Officers Kurt Jacobs and Tim Davis as the recipients of the Bryan Hurst/Tony Luzio Officer of the Month Award for the month of August.
On June 24, 2010, at 3:57am, Officers Kurt Jacobs and Tim Davis responded to a RAPE Call in the city’s Hilltop area. The victim provided the dispatcher with a description of the suspect and his vehicle. While checking the area for the suspect, Officer Jacobs alertly noticed a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description traveling quickly through an alley near the intersection of W. Broad St and S. Ogden Ave. After closing in on the vehicle, Officer Jacobs could also see that the driver matched the suspect description. Officer Jacobs stopped the vehicle and Officer Davis immediately arrived to assist. Both officers observed several unusual behaviors and criminal indicators by the suspect. They also noticed key pieces of evidence.
The suspect was placed under arrest for the rape. He was also charged with numerous other rapes that occurred on the Westside during the past year.
The award presentation, which will provide the “rest of the story,” will take place on Wednesday, August 3, at 10:00am, at the Fire Fighters Union Hall located at 379 W. Broad Street.
