This week’s “Crime of the Week” focuses on a Hit and Run incident which took place in Genoa Township.
On Saturday, June 2, 2018, at approximately 7:45am, an individual was riding her bike northbound on Red Bank Road in the area of Lake of the Woods Drive in Genoa Township. Per witnesses, the bicyclist was struck by the side mirror of a vehicle, causing her to become airborne and land on the berm of Red Bank Road. The driver sped away from the scene and drove north on Red Bank Road. The bicyclist was transported to the hospital for severe lacerations and bruises. Fortunately, the victim is home and recovering from her injuries. The victim described the vehicle as: older, possibly 10 years or more, light or white in color, may have duct tape and plastic over the front passenger side window. Officers recovered a passenger side mirror that fell off of the vehicle after it struck the bicyclist.
