Central Ohio Crime Stoppers, along with the Fraternal Order of Police Capital City Lodge #9, is pleased to recognize Grandview Heights Police Officer Zac Scurlock as the recipient of the Bryan Hurst/Tony Luzio Officer of the Month Award for the month of August.
On June 28, 2013, Officer Zac Scurlock was dispatched to a residence in Grandview Heights concerning an individual that was unresponsive. Officer Scurlock arrived within one minute of the 911 call and located the victim in the basement of his residence. The victim’s father was performing CPR on him when Officer Scurlock arrived. The victim was not breathing and he did not have a pulse. Noticing that the victim’s father did not have the power to continue with CPR, Officer Scurlock took over giving chest compressions. Officer Scurlock was able to successfully revive the victim while other responding officers directed medical personnel to the location. The victim was transported to the hospital where he is under medical treatment for an overdose and drug addiction, but he is alive because of Officer Scurlock’s quick response and actions.
Officer Scurlock has been a member of the Grandview Heights Police Department for just over one year.
The award presentation will take place on Wednesday, August 7th, around 9:45am, at the Fire Fighters Union Hall located at 379 W. Broad Street.
