On Friday, January 18, 2008, at approximately 1:30am, unknown assailants committed a home invasion into 1161 Loretta Ave., the home of April Lewis and her 17-year old son Dennis. The assailants approached Ms. Lewis, holding her at gunpoint. The suspects then entered Dennis’ bedroom. Having been awakened by the commotion, Dennis began to fight with the attackers. April Lewis was unharmed. However, Dennis sustained a gunshot injury during the struggle. Dennis Lewis was transported to OSU Hospital where he died a short time later. The Columbus Police Department is aggressively attempting to identify the persons responsible for this heinous crime.
Crime Stoppers has posted a reward of up to $2,000.00 for any information received leading to the arrest and/or indictment of the persons responsible for this crime. In addition, a local attorney is offering an additional $5,000 for any information leading to the arrest and/or indictment of persons responsible for this crime, along with an anonymous donation of $1,000.
