This week’s “Crime of the Week” focuses on Thefts which took place in Columbus.
Between January 4, 2017, and February 16, 2017, on at least four separate occasions, an unidentified male has stolen large quantities of expensive cigars from Buck’s Smoke Shop, located at 5051 Roberts Road. After noticing inventory being depleted with no justification of sales, the owner reviewed surveillance footage from the “Humidor” room which revealed the suspect stealing the items, several boxes at a time, by concealing them inside his shirt and jacket during each incident. On February 16th, surveillance footage captured suspect #1 and another unidentified male exit a vehicle parked across the street instead of the parking lot to the business. They then walked across the street and parking lot, entered the business, and suspect #1 went directly to the humidor room. Although suspect #2 did not enter the humidor room, he was observed stealing an unknown item from the front counter as the clerk assisted a customer. Suspect #1 is described as: Male/Black, 50-60, 5’8-5’10”, medium complexion, medium build, mustache, and glasses. Suspect #2 is described as: Male/Black, 5’8”-5’10”, darker complexion, wearing dark hoodie, pants and jacket. The suspect vehicle appears to be a dark colored minivan. Surveillance video and photos of one of the suspects may be viewed below.
