On September 24, 2018, at approximately 8:30pm, a female victim traveled to 2255 W. Broad St., to give Bruce James Hart a ride to his rehabilitation facility. Mr. Hart entered the vehicle and the victim detected he was extremely intoxicated. The victim told Mr. Hart to exit her vehicle but he refused and assaulted her by striking her in the right side of her face with an open hand. The assault continued and escalated with Mr. Hart striking the victim multiple times with his closed fist. The victim stated the assault lasted more than 50 minutes. During the assault Mr. Hart struck the victim in the right temple which rendered her unconscious. The victim regained consciousness, feeling Mr. Hart punching her in the ribs telling her to wake up. The victim attempted to flee but each time she tried Mr. Hart would assault and threaten her. Mr. Hart had a moment of clarity and looked away from the victim as in disbelief of what he had done. The victim took advantage of the moment by exiting the vehicle, leaving her cell phone, car keys, and purse behind, running away as she screamed for help. The victim was assisted by a citizen driving by and protected until the police arrived. The victim was transported to the hospital with serious physical harm done to her face and ribs. Bruce Hart fled the area and has been seen in the area of Gallipolis, Ohio but has family and ties in Columbus. Mr. Hart owns and has access to firearms and has made direct threats to harm law enforcement officers when taken into custody. Bruce Hart continues to threaten the victim through social media and texts on her phone. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
