This week’s “Crime of the Week” focuses on a Robbery which took place in the Brewery District of Columbus.
On Sunday, April 23, 2017, at 2:58pm, two unidentified females entered the Kroger store located at 150 W. Sycamore Street. The females placed at least $239 in “Red Bull” and other miscellaneous wine beverages in a shopping cart. The females then exited the front door, without paying. When approached and stopped by employees of Kroger in the east portion of the parking lot, the suspects attempted to enter a vehicle which was parked in that area. In the attempt to stop the theft, gain control of the stolen items, and apprehend the suspects, a struggle ensued between store employees and the suspects. One of the store managers was able to wrestle the shopping cart and merchandise away from the suspects. The store Loss Prevention Officer was struck in the throat and sternum by one of the suspects. The second suspect then pulled out a knife and stated “If you don’t let my friend go I’m going to stick you.” The suspects then were able to enter a black Chevrolet Impala and backed out of the parking space. The store Loss Prevention Officer became trapped between the suspect car and another vehicle which was parked next to it, and was almost run over by the suspect car as it fled the scene. He did not receive any major injuries. Suspect #1 is described as: Female/Black, early 20s, dark skin, 5’7″, heavy set, hair in bun, wearing blue jeans, green shirt with “Good Vibes” on the front, white outer shirt and black boots. Suspect #2: Female/Black, early 20s, 5’7″, medium build, hair in bun secured with a head band, black puffy coat and dark pants. Photo stills of the suspects may be viewed on the Crime Stoppers website, www.stopcrime.org.
