On Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 5:20am, a male black wearing a blue jacket and blue shorts entered the BP gas station located at 6241 S. Sunbury Road, and attempted to buy a carton of Newport Cigarettes. The clerk asked the male for his ID. The male was unable to provide a valid ID so the clerk refused to sell him the cigarettes. The male began to argue with the clerk and stated that he was from Minnesota. The male then walked over to the beer cooler. At that point, another male black wearing a light-colored jacket walked into the store. Both males grabbed beer and began to walk out. The clerk told both males to put the beer back, but they refused. As the males were walking out of the store with the stolen beer, the clerk followed them to obtain a license plate number. The first suspect started reaching into his waist and stated, “you know what’s gonna happen”. The suspect then punched the clerk on the left side of his face and jumped into a gold ford Taurus and left. Surveillance photos of the suspect may be viewed on our website, www.stopcrime.org.
