February Officers of the Month

On 11/20/2012, Officers Ryan Rosser and Kurt Chapman in Cruiser 82 were n/b in the alley that runs between S Glenwood Ave and S Yale Ave and observed a white 2002 Pontiac Grand AM bearing Ohio tag # FNG2739. They discovered it was registered to an Emily Snyder at 81 S Richardson Ave. Officers proceeded to Sullivant Ave and observed a female white run out of the front door of Charley’s Place located at 328 S Glenwood Ave waving her hands. Radio advised of a gun run that was now holding at the same location.
Officers Rosser and Chapman believed the white Pontiac Grand Am they had observed in the alley was possibly the get-away car and proceeded back to the alley to see if it was still there. The car was gone. However, a male white with a shaved head jumped out of a red truck and ran up to Officers Rosser and Chapman asking if they were searching for a male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a black mask over his face. Officers stated they were and the male advised he had seen the male run down the alley the Officers had come out of and jump into a white vehicle which continued s/b on S. Glenwood Ave. towards W Mound St . Officers asked the male if it was possibly a white Pontiac Grand Am and the male confirmed that it was.
After officers searched the area and were unable to locate the vehicle, 4 more armed robberies were dispatched within a two hour timeline. Officers Rosser and Chapman determined that these robberies involved the vehicle that they observed in the alley. Other officers in the area observed the white Grand Am and stopped it on N. Wilson Rd. Patrol took three adults into custody and discovered three young children in the vehicle.
It was later determined that the male inside the vehicle was responsible for the four robberies committed that day and was the “green glove” serial robber. The female driver of the white vehicle was charged with the four robberies that day, another passenger was charged with two robberies from that day, and the “green glove robber” was charged with 34 robbery charges over a 23 day period. The children were taken to FCCS for safekeeping.
