On October 16, 2005, at approximately 11:50pm, Samuel Williams parked his car in front of the National City Bank located at 1040 Mt. Vernon Ave. and walked to the bank’s ATM. Upon completion of his bank transaction, Mr. Williams was on his way back to his vehicle when he was approached by a group of people. While facing and speaking to these individuals, a lone male approached him from behind and punched Mr. Williams in his back. From that point, the whole group fought the victim. The lone suspect who approached him from behind drew a gun from his jacket and shot Mr. Williams. The gunman and the other suspects fled westbound on foot. Mr. Williams was transported to Grant Hospital and later died as a result of the gunshot wound(s). According to a witness, there were approximately five males and one female in the group of suspects who assaulted Mr. Williams. The armed suspect is described as: Male/Black, 17-18 years old, approximately 5’6”, thin build and medium complexion. Another suspect is described as: Male/Black, 17-18, 5’8”, and light complexion. The female suspect is described as: Black, 15-16, 5’ tall.
Crime Stoppers has posted a reward of up to $2,000.00 for any information received by April 30, 2011, leading to the arrest and/or indictment of the persons responsible for this crime.
