On June 10, 2010, at 3:50pm, an adult male suspect, and an adult female suspect, accompanied by a small child, approached the jewelry counter in the Eastland Macy’s store. The male requested to see, and was allowed to hold and examine, a gold ring valued at $5,400. The man put the ring on his finger and removed it a couple of times, then held it on the back side of a large cell phone, as if using the phone as a backdrop. While “looking” at the ring in back of the phone, the man switched the store’s ring with a costume jewelry ring of similar appearance. The man handed the ring to his female accomplice, stated that it was over priced, and walked away…still in possession of the $5,400 ring. Though the female suspect has been identified, investigators are requesting information from the public to identify the male suspect and the location of the ring. Surveillance video of the theft may be viewed at our website www.stopcrime.org.
