Deputy Joel Chairez Named Officer Of The Month [video]

Central Ohio Crime Stoppers, along with the Fraternal Order of Police Capital City Lodge #9, is pleased to recognize Franklin County Deputy Joel Chairez as the recipient of the Bryan Hurst/Tony Luzio Officer of the Month Award for the month of December.

On November 2, 2009, the Franklin County Radio Room dispatched westside units to a bank robbery that had just occurred at the Huntington Bank located at 121 Georgesville Road. The vehicle seen leaving the bank with a female suspect in it had an out-of-state license plate of “2RUP100″. Deputy Joel Chairez went into a local BMV registration location and asked the employees for assistance. A website was provided for license plates and Deputy Chairez started running various states to obtain information from the state of California. That plate was identified by the bank employee, and through further investigative work a local address was determined by arrest records, and units were dispatched to an address on the westside. The vehicle was at that location and later inside the residence, the female suspect, along with recovered money, was found. We are proud to name Franklin County Deputy Joel Chairez as our officer of the month.

The award presentation will take place on Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at 10:00am, at the Fire Fighters Union Hall located at 379 W. Broad Street. Any questions, please contact Kevin Miles, Central Ohio Crime Stoppers, at 614-206-6315.
